Where is entropy generated in ideal Rankine cycle?

Where is entropy generated in ideal Rankine cycle? Entropy:- System's Thermal energy per unit temperature that is unavailable to perform some useful work is called entropy. It is type of irreversibility. It is denoted by S. S=Q / T Unit for entropy= J/K In ideal Rankine cycle, Pump and Turbine are modelled as reversible components. So, there is no entropy generation in these components. Condenser is perfect heat exchanger because there is no temperature difference between condensing steam and cold reservoir, so it is also reversible. But the boiler is not reversible as there is unavoidable heat transfer through a temperature difference that occurs with in boiler. So, Boiler is only source of entropy generation in ideal Rankine cycle

Why Carnot cycle is impractical?

Why Carnot cycle is impractical? Carnot cycle is impractical because its two processes isothermal expansion and isothermal compression involve transfer of heat and work simultaneously. But most equipment separate processes involving heat from those involving work. Turbines and compressors involve work but are typically nearly adiabatic. Heat exchangers involve heat transfer but do not involve work transfer. The reason for these processes are separated in practical components is related to large amount of time that is required for fluid to transfer heat compared to short amount of time that is required for fluid to transfer work.
